After watching parts 1 and 2 of the animated Netflix comedy, I was excited for the third installment, but after watching part 3, I’m disappointed to report that it doesn’t live up to the first two batches of episodes.
The plot to part 3 of Disenchantment didn’t have a clear direction and the jokes felt flat and repetitive. The three main characters Bean, Elfo, and Luci were often on separate missions and their interactions weren’t nearly as enjoyable as previous episodes.
It wasn’t all bad though, the growth of Oona and Bean’s relationship was enjoyable to watch and new character Mora the Mermaid quickly became one of my favorites, which is why her sudden departure was all the more disappointing.
Some of the weakest storylines included Zøg’s descent into madness and Dagmar’s flip-flopping of a villain, not a villain, a villain again that felt tiresome and incoherent.
Even though this batch of episodes leaves much to be desired, if you enjoyed parts 1 and 2 as I did, then I think you should still give it a watch. The 10 episodes follow the 20-30 minute pattern and can easily be binged in a day or two.
Three, 10-episode batches of Disenchantment are now available to stream on Netflix and they’ve already ordered a 4th batch so check out the medieval animated comedy for yourself and let me know your opinion in the comments below.
