Netflix made the announcement official at 11am PDT with a still featuring Lucifer and Chloe touching foreheads with the words Lucifans over Lucifer and May 28 on Chloe. Other regional netflix accounts released a promotional still from the upcoming 14th episode of season 5 featuring Tom Ellis with his eyes closed and hands clasped in prayer.

The excitement was quickly tampered by numerous goodbye posts from the cast and crew as they filmed their final scenes of the series. Lesley-Ann Brandt wrote an incredibly touching post on her Instagram. Aimee Garcia spent the whole day posting Instagram stories featuring all her cast members and countless crew members had emotional social media sendoffs for the show.
Lucifer fans decided to show their love for the series by getting “#ThankYouLucifer” trending in the top 10 on twitter and show runner Joe Henderson acknowledged the hashtag and tweeted his love for the fans. Rachael Harris also used the tag in her emotional stories of the last day of filming on Instagram.
It was a day full of highs and lows as excitement turned to tears and then back again. It was truly a unique and bittersweet day in the Lucifer fandom that won’t be forgotten any time soon.
Four full seasons and the first half of season 5 of Lucifer are now streaming on Netflix and the second half of season 5 will be available on May 28th.
