If you could find your perfect match, would you?

I will keep this review spoiler free even though it will be very difficult because all I want to do is gush about how amazing this show is in full detail but, I shall give you enough to hopefully encourage you to experience the ride that is The One.

I will admit, I have personally not read the book by John Marrs but after watching the Netflix series its definitely left me intrigued enough to check it out!

I loved the question of what the premise of the show brought. If you could know your match, the person who is proven to be 'the one' would you? Even though you are happily married/in love? If you had both what would you choose? Which side as a viewer do you root for? I'm sure a lot of romantics would pick their soulmates right? Yet, for me, this series left me in some cases rooting for the loves that may not be 100% match but persevered through trails and experience. Isn't that what love is about? Also if it is based on DNA, what is the possibility of having more than one match? It certainly does leave you thinking.

One of the things that stood out to me was the complexity of the characters and the situations they are put in. There is no black or white characters, they are morally grey, some darker or lighter shades than others but all grey and I loved seeing that. All the actors did a fantastic job bringing their characters to life, some even leaving you feeling conflicted in whether you should root for them or not.

This series is definitely better experienced with a binge, I kept telling myself 'just one more' and then suddenly it was over. Let me tell you, what a ride it was. The twists and turns are some you don't see coming! The ending is left open with a lot more questions which leaves you hoping for a season 2!

I also loved the fact that it focuses on more than one storyline. We are given multiple complex characters with their own plots yet at the root of it all is the DNA match service and therefore each story is interwoven. For all crime solving fanatics out there, fear not because one of the main drives of this story is about a death. The story behind it starts to slowly unravel as the season goes on leading to the answers we were asking.

The full season of The One is available on Netflix March 12th.
