It’s been quite an eventful Monday for Lucifer fans. In the early hours of the night, Netflix apparently accidentally leaked the release date for the second part of season 5 and announced that more episodes were coming on May 28th before quickly changing it back to ‘more episodes coming soon’. Lucifer fans were too quick though and screenshots with the release date had already been widely circulated.

Netflix made the announcement official at 11am PDT with a still featuring Lucifer and Chloe touching foreheads with the words Lucifans over Lucifer and May 28 on Chloe. Other regional netflix accounts released a promotional still from the upcoming 14th episode of season 5 featuring Tom Ellis with his eyes closed and hands clasped in prayer.

The excitement was quickly tampered by numerous goodbye posts from the cast and crew as they filmed their final scenes of the series. Lesley-Ann Brandt wrote an incredibly touching post on her Instagram. Aimee Garcia spent the whole day posting Instagram stories featuring all her cast members and countless crew members had emotional social media sendoffs for the show.

Lucifer fans decided to show their love for the series by getting “#ThankYouLucifer” trending in the top 10 on twitter and show runner Joe Henderson acknowledged the hashtag and tweeted his love for the fans. Rachael Harris also used the tag in her emotional stories of the last day of filming on Instagram.

It was a day full of highs and lows as excitement turned to tears and then back again. It was truly a unique and bittersweet day in the Lucifer fandom that won’t be forgotten any time soon.

Four full seasons and the first half of season 5 of Lucifer are now streaming on Netflix and the second half of season 5 will be available on May 28th.

I really enjoyed Lucifer and wish it wasn't ending I have already missed the show because we had to wait so long for the Season 5 to finish airing. Tom Ellis is a great actor, both seriously and comedy, and pulling off playing his twin so well.
